“can’t say enough good things about Mary’s—this is hands down one of the best dive bars I’ve been to in a long time. The energy, the inclusivity, the overall vibe—everything about it was perfect. It’s a cozy space, but even on a Wednesday Mary-oke night, I never felt overwhelmed by the crowd. Just the right amount of people, great energy, and a balcony out back if you need a breather (or a smoke)... What really sets Mary’s apart is that it truly feels queer—not just a “gay” or “lesbian” bar, but a space where everyone in the community is welcomed and celebrated. That’s a rare and beautiful thing, and I absolutely loved it... ... And of course, the karaoke was amazing (apologies if my Talking Heads performance hurt anyone’s ears!). The drinks are also super reasonably priced, which is always a plus. We took an Uber, so I can’t speak much on parking, but there does seem to be some available out back if you’re driving... I hate that we don’t live in Atlanta because I’d take Mary’s with me everywhere if I could. If you’re in town, you HAVE to go—the vibes are immaculate. We’ll absolutely be back next time we visit!”
“Honestly the most dive bar of dive bars in the best way, and absolutely somehow both chill and lively with your complete choice to pick which vibe to pursue there. Attentive bartenders, great drinks, nothing fancy, sadly no food but they're cool if you bring in your own. Karaoke, dancing if you want, smoking on the patio space, it's perfect in what it is. Parking is a nightmare, but that's EAV in general so plan accordingly Also, as the photos suggest, the decor is ON POINT”
“I had so much fun here!! Went to watch the season finale of Ru paul drag race. The drinks tasted great. They had a few specials for the day and they were all great. The atmosphere on the inside is super cool and moody. The service was great as well everyone who worked there was very friendly. Overall I loved it and would highly recommend going if you want a fun neighborhood bar. Ella Rex had a live drag performance it was everything!”
“This is the best queer bar I’ve ever been too. Period. With 3 distinct areas (main bar, upstairs, and back patio) there are plenty of cool places to chill with friends. The drinks are well priced, the staff is excellent, and the staff is more than willing to throw on some gay videos to help make this an amazing queer dive bar. If you want a more low key queer bar than MSR or Blake’s this is the bar to go to! I recently moved out of town for work and I’m already missing this bar 💙💙”
“...we can say for certain that it is definitely one of Atlanta’s best places to hang out and have a drink.”
“Mary’s is not just a bar where you can dance and drink. It’s also a place many Atlanta queers call home.”
“Mary's isn't trying to be cool—it just is.”
““How fun is Mary’s? It’s an East Atlanta Village gay bar where all are welcome, and the second you walk in the front door, you’re on the dance floor.””
“Mary's, a little dive tucked into the heart of East Atlanta Village, is the best bar in Atlanta.”
“One of the Greatest Gay Bars in the World”
